Volunteer Opportunities

 

Board Member – Help us to achieve our future vision of becoming “the best youth soccer program in Central Minnesota”.  As we move this soccer organization to the “next level” we need volunteers with a passion for youth sports and willingness to ‘roll up your sleeves’ and get involved.

n  Attend monthly meetings, heavier investment of time during the summer season.

n  Communicate via e-mail throughout the year.

n  Volunteer fee and registration fees will be returned at the end of the season, contingent upon completion of responsibilities.

n  8 volunteers

n  President Board member: Julie

 

Head Coach * – Teach youth the fundamentals of the sport as well as the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship and having fun.

n  Attend one coaching meeting prior to season (evening during the week of July 5th)

n  Lead 2 nights per week of practices/games during the July 20th – August 21st season.

n  Volunteer fee and Registration fee will be returned at the end of the season, contingent upon completion of responsibilities.

n  40 -45 volunteers.

Assistant Coach * – Assist head coach in teaching youth the fundamentals of the sport as well as the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship and having fun.

n  Attend one coaching meeting prior to season (evening during the week of July 5th)

n  Assist in directing 2 nights per week of practices/games during the July 20th – August 21st season.

n  Fill in for Head Coach when needed

n  Volunteer fee and Registration fee will be returned at the end of the season, contingent upon completion of responsibilities.

n  40 -45 volunteers.

Team Manager - Communicate to the team and their parents.

n  Attend one manager meeting prior to season (evening during the week of July 5th)

n  Facilitate team communication and coordination, often via the BYSA website.

n  Distribute photography forms, snack sign up sheet, volunteer sign up sheet, etc.

n  40- 45 volunteers

In-Home Clerical*- Assemble Coaches and Team Manager packages and Data entry of registrations

n  Assist Board Members in early July, prior to season start

n  5-6 volunteers

Jersey Distribution*-Distribute soccer jerseys the first week of soccer

n  6-8 volunteers- 2 each evening Monday – Thursday, July 20th- 23rd.

n  Board member coordinator: Molly

 

Equipment Setup * – Assist in the setup and placement of equipment (nets) prior to the season startup.  Some heavy lifting may be required.

n  Attend one session at Athletic Complex on the evening of Sunday July 19th from 5:00 – 8:30 pm to get equipment out of storage and nets set up and placed.

n  15 volunteers

Pre Season Caller*- Inform parents of volunteer responsibilities date, time, and location.  

n  Make calls during July 8th- 17th prior to season start date 8 volunteers needed

n  40 calls per volunteer

n  Board Member coordinator: Beth

 

1st Week Greeters * – Make parents and players feel welcome by greeting them and directing them where to go. Refer to team rosters, field maps, and hand out necessary information, etc.

n  Attend an evening during the first week of the season.  Arrive early to meet with volunteer coordinator to get setup prior to parents/players arriving.  4 volunteers at Athletic Complex and 2 volunteers at the High School.

n  Wear a red t-shirt so that you are noticeable to parents/players.

n  Choose 1 evening of July 20th and 21st from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.

n  24 volunteers. 6 volunteers each of the 4 nights of the first week of the season.

Reminder Caller*- Make calls to remind parent volunteers

n  Remind parents of volunteer responsibilities

n  4 volunteers needed

n  40 calls per volunteer

Picture taking coordinators* – Assist with picture taking process / coordination during picture night.

n  Attend evening of picture taking; organize teams, collect photographer forms.  Arrive before teams in order to set up.  Will need some volunteers at Athletic Complex and some at the high school fields.

n  Choose 1 evening of July 27th or July 28th from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.

7 volunteers.- 2 for U6’s, 2 for U8’s on July 27thand 3 for U 10/12’s on July 28th.

n  Board member coordinator: Debra

 

Jamboree Committee * – Plan and coordinate the activities needed for a season-ending jamboree.  The purpose of the jamboree is to celebrate the season, hand out trophies and have fun.  TBA

n  Work on a committee of volunteers to plan the activities for the Jamboree evenings and develop a list of volunteer activities needed to be staffed the evening of the jamboree.

n  12 volunteers, time required determined by committee

n  Board member coordinator:  Debra

 

Jamboree Helpers * – Work at the activities identified by the Jamboree Committee. 

n  Attend Jamboree, may need to arrive early for set up and stay late for cleanup.

n  Possible activities include:  manning a contest station (dribbling relay, scoring contest, race against parents), provide and serve treats/drinks, coordinate ‘thank the coaches’ segment, distribute trophies, etc. Aug 19th or 20th  

n  40 volunteers (estimated) for 3 hours each.  20 on each of the 2 evenings.

n  Board member coordinator:  Debra

 

Equipment Check-in / tear down * – Collect equipment from coaches and place in storage. Assist in the removal and teardown and storage of equipment (nets) after season ends.  Some heavy lifting may be required.

n  Attend one session at Athletic Complex on Friday August 21tst from 6:00 – 8:30 to tear down equipment and put in storage.

n  15 volunteers.

n  Board member coordinator:  Todd

 

* Volunteer fee will be returned at the end of the season, contingent upon completion of responsibilities.

 

Board member coordinators will be responsible for leading the volunteers on their evening of responsibility and for reporting attendance to Molly so that those who fulfilled their responsibilities will get their volunteer fee back.
